Well we should start off with a definition of Holistic. Wikipedia describes Holistic as follows: "Holistic health refers to a philosophy of medical care that views physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life as closely interconnected and equally important approaches to treatment."
An Holistic Spa or Retreat should therefore offer treatments and an embience that touches the mind, body and spirit. One of the most common and popular treatments that relax all three aspects of our being is massage. We will look at massage in more detail in a future post as there are many different types. Indeed if you have a view on how massage (and which type) has affected you then please let us know by commenting on this blog below.
However, there are many other treatments that Retreats offer to affect the mind, body and spirit, some which focus on just one of these aspects. However, it is commonly believed that general fitness, healthy living and relaxation have a positive affect on all three. So if you are looking for a detox holiday to rid the BODY of toxins, you are likely to also positively affect the mind and your general spirit through a feeling of wellbeing.
On our website, http://www.wellness-retreats.co.uk/ we highlight some of the treatments offered by the different resorts. You may have something specific you wish to work on or you may just want to "get away from it all" to relax and revitalise. By all means post a comment here if you are seeking advice on which resorts maybe right for your specific requirements or call us.
Next time we will look at massage and the different types on offer so please check back soon or subscribe to our newsletter to receive further updates.
